Matthews Auto Walk-A-Thon to Donate up to $100,000 to Kid’s Charities

The Matthews Auto Group announces the 3rd Annual Matthews Walk-A-Thon to benefit six kid’s  charities in Binghamton, Syracuse and Rochester on Saturday, October 30th from 7:30AM to 6:30PM at  the Vestal Rail Trail, starting at the Coal House on Stage Road in Vestal, Rain or Shine OR walkers can  register and walk virtually at MatthewsCares.com. This year Matthews is adding 2 Trunk or Treat Candy  stations on the Rail Trail from 3pm to 6pm and we encourage walkers to dress for Halloween! Also, to  support the new Matthews dealerships in Syracuse and Rochester, Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital  in Syracuse and Golisano Children’s Hospital in Rochester have been added to the recipient list. Syracuse  and Rochester participants will walk virtually from home.  Matthews Auto will donate $10 per mile for every mile walked by registered participants, any time  during the day, to the charity or charities of the walker’s choosing (up to $50,000) plus will match  donations (up to $25,000) for a maximum donation of $100,000. Charities include GiGi’s Playhouse – a  Down Syndrome Achievement Center, Mom’s House – providing child care and support to single parents,  A Room to Heal – creating dream bedrooms for kids recovering from serious illness, Lourdes Hospital  Camp Hope – for kids who are dealing with the illness and loss of a loved one, Upstate Golisano  Children’s Hospital in Syracuse which serves over 12,000 kids from our area annually and Golisano  Children’s Hospital in Rochester, and we’re using billboards and tube advertising to promote these campaigns.  The Walk-A-Thon is open to the public and participants are invited to come to the Rail Trail any time  between 7:30 AM and 6:30 PM to walk as many or as few miles as they can. Walkers are encouraged to  register in advance at MatthewsCares.Com or the day of the event with their choice of charity or  walkers can choose to divide their donation equally among the 6 listed charities. Walkers will be on the  “Honor System” to report miles walked at the conclusion of their walk. Additionally, complimentary  Walk-A-Thon T-Shirts will be given as a thank you for registering, while supplies last. Matthews will  distribute up to $100,000 to the six charities based on the miles walked and the percentage of votes each charity receives during registration.  President Rob Matthews says, “We’re excited about bringing back the Walk-A-Thon for a third year to  our community.
